Paris, France

Leave it to the style-conscious French to assemble the most exciting design resources in the world under one roof.

Twice a year, 55,000 buyers from around the globe converge in Paris to review, edit and buy stock for their home, gift and garden shops. The draw is 2,300 exhibitors representing everything for the home and garden designed and made by hand or manufactured around the world.

Held every January and September at the Parc des Exposition in Paris, the event is Maison et Objet (House and Object), the most elegant and selective to-the-trade event in the world.

Carefully culled from over 50 countries, Maison et Objet's exhibitors are considered the leaders in interpreting lifestyle trends. Retailers look to them for inspiration and exceptional products that will entice consumers to spend money.

Interior design trends evolve; they don't transform or appear over-night. The current design trends, such as Mid-Century Modern, Zen Minimal, World Fusion, and Lush Luxe, continue to inspire designers. But, if you want your space to look tres actuel (very "of the moment"), it is the subtleties of what is in and what is OUT that will make a difference.

Here is how some of the trends were
represented at Maison et Objet....
